Purpose & Aims

The NCER Children in Need Analysis Service will be a national evidence-based system for analysing Children in Need cohorts and educational outcomes providing data to local authorities at the earliest opportunity.

The flexibility of NCER Children in Need analysis inside NCER Nexus will allow local authorities to create fine grade analysis. This is similar in approach to the successful NCER Children Looked After Analysis Service already available inside NCER Nexus. Together they provide effective tools to support local authorities with a consistent national approach to management reporting and inspection evidence for vulnerable children.

Children in Need reports and analysis in NCER Nexus will be enhanced with clear graphics and data translations. Flexible multi-filter options enable the production of unique combinations of analysis, all with NCER regional and national benchmark data.

As evidenced in the 2019 DfE Review of Children in Need there is an increased focus nationally on improving educational outcomes for vulnerable children and NCER have prioritised developments in this area to support local authorities in this important area of work.
